We’ve lost a good friend and an important playwright. Sharon Pollock, who was one of E-script’s mentors, passed away in April. To the writers she worked with, Sharon was an astute and always sympathetic companion as they worked on their plays. As E-script’s director, I was always glad when I could place a writer, sometimes just as skilled, sometimes brand new, into her steady hands. She took them on with deep interest, and the tutorials she used with many of them contained a lifetime of knowledge about writing for theatre.
She lives on, of course, through her own plays, which have been seen and will continue to be seen around the world. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your talents on stage and through your teaching, and for the opportunity to work with you. Through the stories you told and those you taught, your voice will continue to be heard. – Frank Moher, Director, E-script
